The End Times Cult that arrived at the end of book 10 in The Secondhand Bookworm series of novels set in a quirky English bookshop in Castletown (featuring Nora Jolly, a Catholic Duke, plenty of customers, new faces, old faces, laughs, light romance and plenty of books!), is in crisis!

After makings its (hilariously outrageous) presence known throughout the Winterland Festival (curses, predictions, doom and gloom and a worrying event looming on the bookshop's horizon) - the End Times Cult has disbanded.

Nora and Georgina have arrived at the compound to buy the library of outlandish books for The Secondhand Bookworm, but this may well mark the descent into their very own Apocalypse.


The Duke of Cole's brother is having a crisis, there are many new establishment now open in the town, too much weight is being added to the already creaking bookshop floors, the local Ghost Hunt Tour has employed the Grim Reaper, Georgina's purchased a library of Ghost Rider comics and a huge cardboard cut-out of Nicholas Cage - placed outside the bookshop and falling over every minute - Georgina's up to no good and is about to cause a scandal, the Beast in The Secondhand Bookworm's sister branch in Seatown is about to destroy Georgina's future; Wimsey's advertising for Seymour's plays while sporting a strange outfit, the new museums are out to shock; James, Duke of Cole, has taken up boxing (and sporting a series of black eyes) and Nora fears her worst nightmare is about to come true - being crushed by 27,000 books!

A trip to Badgers Books, Worthing and some resources

Today (Friday 20th December 2019) my sister had her eye test in Specsavers so afterwards we walked down to Badgers Books, a secondhand bookshop in Worthing just off of Montegue Street. I was interested in buying some cheap old books for mixed media collage canvases that I have been doing lately. I am now not immune to the smell of used books having not worked in a bookshop since 2012. I had become immune to it after ten years running a secondhand bookshop in Arundel (and Worthing and Chichester) but no, it was strong and familiar again like when I first started in my bookshop in 2002... Badgers Books is smaller than the bookshop I worked in and the one that features in my series of novels 'The Secondhand Bookworm'. It was easy to navigate and my sister said she loved the mess, with books piled up everywhere.
