EXPENSIVE CIGARS, MANSIONS AND MASKED BALLS

 When I worked for ten years in a secondhand and antiquarian bookshop I would often flick through books about cigars, diamonds, fast cars, perfumes and country estates. Combine that with a love for adventure films and romance novels and a keen imagination, and my series of epic novels was born.

Set in England, 'House of Villains' is the first novel in a series of books packed with stunning locations, ruthless villains, murder, mystery, betrayals and bullets, with a sprinkling of romance and humour and plenty of suspense.

 I also put in a scattering of the mystical as themes of grace, conversion and faith are lightly touched upon too. There's a masked ball as well, a ruthless murder and a stand off at a city harbour with the head of the Russian Bratva. Total escapism, a gripping read and the beginning of a series.

Reading through Chapter One of  Apocalypse at The Secondhand Bookworm Having completed writing book 12 in my The Secondhand Bookworm series of novels (set in an English bookshop), I am now reading carefully through the first draft, making corrections and editing the story, making sure it flows and builds correctly, and checking continuity. I find this very difficult because I read and work very fast. I get excited and impatient and want everything done as quick as possible! This is probably because I want to share the story desperately so can be in a haste to get everything done ASAP. But I have two weeks before my proof-reader returns from her Northumberland camping trip so I will be patient and thorough so it ends up as a very good read for all! Book Club at The Secondhand Bookworm - starting to write

I have now started to write book 7 in my series of humorous novels set in an English used bookshop. It is called 'Book Club at The Secondhand Bookworm' and picks up a few weeks from where 'Friday at The Secondhand Bookworm' left off. Lots of real life experiences pop up once more in the series and in this novel, Nora Jolly is running a Book Club. She has ten members to begin with, all with varying strong characters, some looking for romance, some wishing to simply stop their brains from rotting. The Duke, her sister-in-law, cousin and several work colleagues as well as familiar customers and one stranger named Danny make up the club which begins with its first meeting in the middle of December in the front of The Secondhand Bookworm. Summer at The Secondhand Bookworm - Book 4 in the series, a look at Chapter 10 and 'The Enormous Moustache'

The Enormous Moustache Chapter 10 in BOOK 4 'Summer at The Secondhand Bookworm' - 'The Enormous Moustache'. 'When Nora began down the hill after parking her car the next day she almost fell over with mixed bafflement and mirth. Filling up a large part of the castle wall that ran towards the gate she and Humphrey had used to visit the Duke’s library was a huge moustache. It had been fixed there as a work of art, made out of willow sticks.' I had some fun writing this chapter which takes place during the week of Castletown's Summer Festival and the 'Art Trail'. I was able to include a particularly amazing piece of art that has appeared in the town - an enormous moustache. The actual moustache currently in Arundel for the Gallery Trail is the work of Environmental artists Mark and Rebecca Ford from West Sussex (my home county).
