Getting my teeth into Black Friday 2018

The Perfect Autumn Read

After a hectic week working on NEW DVD film releases and an enormous DVD order to be prepared and shipped to Saint Paul's bookshop in Westminster, London, I'm finally getting my teeth back into polishing off book 6 in my 'The Secondhand Bookworm' series of novels.

'Black Friday at The Secondhand Bookworm' is coming along nicely, and I've given myself the task of trying to have it available on Kindle and in paperback in the week leading up to Black Friday 2018!

In the bottom left hand corner of the cover above you can see Arthur, Cara's new bulldog, who pops up through the week! There's also several jaunts in the bright yellow Tuk-Tuk, which appears on one occasion as if by magic on the kerb outside The Secondhand Bookworm to take Humphrey and Nora up to their Deer Rut Safari!

The book opens in the week leading up to Black Friday, with Nora Jolly preparing to open the Bargain Book Yard at the back of The Secondhand Bookworm. The perfect autumn read, there's romance and intrigue in the bookshop this time, as Humphrey, Nora and the Duke of Sussex (yes, I named him the Duke of Sussex in book 1 long before her Majesty named Prince Harry the Duke of Sussex!) make some interesting discoveries at the Autumn Supper and Festival at the castle.

Autumn festivities at the bookshop
Castletown is reaching the end of autumn and Hugh is battling the last tumble of autumn leaves about the ancient Sussex town with his loud leaf blower, while Nora spends a frantic day with Paperback Pam, who leaves her to deal with the maniac breed known as 'book bargain hunters'!

I'm enjoying working through chapter six at the moment where The Secondhand Bookworm group are up at the castle for the town festivities and are given a curious invitation by the Duke, who opens the festival by abseiling down Godwin Tower, the tallest turret of his castle.

There's a hilarious Thanksgiving Dinner at Georgina's house, complete chaos on Black Friday, the final revelation of who and what 'Bellerophon Books' are, bright yellow Tuk-Tuks, an ice-rink run by Harry, a mad Saturday sheep race, square dancing on the cobbles, endless pumpkin pies, a dog show, an exciting countdown and of course, plenty of your favourite bookworms. And we can't forget 'Tiny Tim'. the littlest donkey in Sussex, who makes an appearance in Castletown.

The Bargain Books
I've enjoyed writing about the Bargain Book Yard, which has been constructed at the back of The Secondhand Bookworm. Once the site of terrible misfortunes, (sewage disasters!!), the yard has enjoyed a thorough scrubbing and wooden bookcases have been set up around the walls. Humphrey has covered the roof with plastic as a defense against pigeon poop and the elements, and Nora has spent ages putting up black and white bunting, pumpkin lights and arranging the van loads of bargain books brought over by Georgina.

The Bargain Book Yard is the place to be on Black Friday, with a fantastic selection of reads. They've been discounted throughout the week and are set to go at a 50% discount on the day itself. Of course, everyone's out for a bargain and Nora has a lovely time fighting with the hunters who simply won't accept no for an answer when they want more than that!

I love sitting down with a book through the seasons and book 6 in my series embodies the atmosphere of a rustic autumn in an ancient Sussex town by the sea. I shall be working on it as much as I can over the next few weeks getting it ready for release and shall do more updates as I go along!

'Black Friday at The Secondhand Bookworm' will be released through Amazon in paperback, kindle and to read for free with Kindle Unlimited soon! Meanwhile, start the series today with book 1 - 'The Secondhand Bookworm', available to read NOW through AMAZON.
