I had fun today displaying a delivery of delicious new paperback editions of my fifth novel in my bookshop series - Halloween at the Secondhand Bookworm.

I loved writing Halloween at The Secondhand Bookworm.
It's book 5 in the series and while characters have developed, relationships have grown, regular customers pop up in the books like familiar friends and an endless supply of interesting used and antiquarian books have been memorably traded throughout the three floored bookshop, Halloween at The Secondhand Bookworm is a story that can be enjoyed by itself.


It's the perfect read in the build up to Halloween.
Not too gory, not too scary, not to horrific, not too dull.
It has humour, hauntings, zombies, werewolves, witches, Halloween authors and books, fancy dress, ghost sightings, plays, costume balls, haunted Tuk-Tuks, romance, tension, drama, madness, mystery, intrigue and lots of fun while bringing in classic stories, tales and novels from Halloween's literary history.



I was pleased to be able to finish my Halloween novel ready for October. It's great to get into the mood for celebrations and seasons and with Halloween comes an enjoyable autumn feel, with pumpkin juice, spooky shaped biscuits, Jack O'Lanterns, squash soup, pastries, hot chocolate and lots of eerie decorations and costumes.



Halloween at The Secondhand Bookworm doesn't confine itself to just one Halloween story. It's a treat to be able to explore the classics such as The Shining and IT by Stephen King, as well as The Gashlycrumb Tinnies, The Canterville Ghost and other novels we like to read over the season to scare ourselves and have fun.


It certainly is great to imagine spending a week in a haunted bookshop as Halloween approaches.

A trip to Badgers Books, Worthing and some resources

Today (Friday 20th December 2019) my sister had her eye test in Specsavers so afterwards we walked down to Badgers Books, a secondhand bookshop in Worthing just off of Montegue Street. I was interested in buying some cheap old books for mixed media collage canvases that I have been doing lately. I am now not immune to the smell of used books having not worked in a bookshop since 2012. I had become immune to it after ten years running a secondhand bookshop in Arundel (and Worthing and Chichester) but no, it was strong and familiar again like when I first started in my bookshop in 2002... Badgers Books is smaller than the bookshop I worked in and the one that features in my series of novels 'The Secondhand Bookworm'. It was easy to navigate and my sister said she loved the mess, with books piled up everywhere.
